How to Make a Batting Order in Little League

Making a batting order in little league is not like making a batting order at higher levels of baseball. Read on for some tips to avoid making the mistakes that a lot of little league coaches make--while choosing their batting lineup.

1. Carefully write down the order. All too often teams get caught batting out of order because the lineup was copied down wrong.

2. Remember that runners equal runs in little league. You should, therefore, put the batters with the highest on-base percentage at the top of the lineup. They will get on base, steal second and maybe third and hopefully score.

3. Avoid the cliche of putting the fastest runner in the leadoff spot or the most powerful hitter in the fourth spot. If the fast runner can't get on base consistently, he is useless, and if the most powerful hitter has the highest OBP on the team, he should be batting earlier in the lineup.

4. Place your weakest players at the bottom of the lineup. Feel free to mix an average player in there so that you do not have three strike outs in a row.
