Things You'll Need:

  • Potted green rose bush
  • Gardening soil and pot or container
  • Compost
  • Fertilizer
  • Shovel
  • Gardening gloves
  1. Step 1

Purchase a green potted rose bush from a reliable grower. Order the bush online or go to the grower. Purchase the plant if it is nearby. Choose one of the varieties mentioned in the overview.

  2. Step 2

Plant the bush in your region only when the danger of frost has passed. When living in a warm climate, wait until fall or after the months of July and August have passed to plant the bushes. When ready to plant the bush, choose a larger container with drainage holes. Fill the container with good quality garden soil. Add in some compost and fertilizer.

  3. Step 3

Dig a hole that's bigger and deeper than the container you use and the rosebush's root ball. Lower the container into the hole with the soil. Dig a trench around the base to hold the water. Remove the bush from the shipping container. Plant it in a container with plenty of soil packed around the bush to hold it firmly upright.

  4. Step 4

Water frequently at the base try not to get the leaves wet. Use a fertilizer once a week or every two weeks. Weed around the plant. Put plenty of mulch around the rose bush to keep from disease. Trim when needed to maintain a healthy plant.
