How to Construct a Tower

The best kids crafts are the ones that they will enjoy playing with after they make them. This simple toy tower has a small open room in the top. Small action-figure knights can stand inside keeping lookout, or rival generals can fight deadly duels above the ground. It is just under 7 inches tall, but can be easily scaled up for larger action figures by using a bigger sheet of paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold a piece of construction paper in half width-wise. Then fold it in half again. You should have four parallel folds.

    • 2

Unfold the paper and make a 3.5-inch cut down the top of each crease. You should have four little flaps on the side of your paper.

    • 3

Decorate your tower. Two of the flaps will be a roof, and the other two will be the floor of an inside room. You can draw bricks on the sides of the tower and shingles on the roof, or just let your imagination run wild.

    • 4

Fold each crease at a right angle, with the drawings on the outside. Tape the two ends together. You now have a square column.

    • 5

Fold two of the flaps over and tape one over the other so that they form a flat platform on top of the tower.

    • 6

Fold the other two flaps over so that the tips touch. Tape the tips together. Your tower now has a roof.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want a bigger roof with a greater slope, cut longer strips.
