How to Configure a Linksys Wireless Card

Wireless connections are convenient for a mobile lifestyle. To use a wireless access point, your computer must be wireless ready. A common card to install for wireless use is a Linksys wireless card. Once the card is installed in your computer, it must be configured correctly to ensure it will work with your specific network settings.

  1. Setting Up a Linksys Wireless Card

      Click "Start" and then "Control Panel" to select "Network Connections." This will bring up a list of all the network connections on the computer.

      Right click the "Local Area Connection" that will use the Linksys wireless card. Select "Properties" on the menu that displays.

      Click on the "Wireless Network" tab. Click "Add" if the wireless network is not already visible.

      Input your wireless network's SSID. This is the name of your wireless access point. Be sure to uncheck "This key is provided to me automatically."

      Type in the network key for your network and confirm it. Click "OK" on the prompt and exit out of the network configuration. Your card is now configured.
