Designer Dolce & Gabbana produces a popular line of sunglasses that often carry a hefty price tag. Because these sunglasses are in such high demand and so expensive, fake Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses are common. To avoid purchasing a pair of faux Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, it's important to know what to look out for. There are some fairly apparent differences between the fakes and the real thing, particularly in the craftsmanship and the price.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Think before you buy. Most Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses retail for hundreds (and occasionally thousands) of dollars. If the price offered is lower that normal retail price for that particular pair of shades, chances are that the glasses are fake. Also, only buy Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses from legitimate retailers, such as department stores, upscale boutiques or online stores that specialize in designer products.

  2. Step 2

Do some research. Purchasing a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses is costly, so make sure you know what you want to buy. The Dolce & Gabbana website has the complete line of sunglasses, with pictures, on display. Print out the pictures of several pairs that you're interested in and take them along to the store for comparative purposes.

  3. Step 3

Look at the craftsmanship. If the sunglasses are exceedingly light or appear to be made of coated plastic, they aren't Dolce & Gabbana. Use a magnifying glass, if necessary, to check out the finish on the frames and lenses. Knock-off sunglasses are more likely to have scratches and chips.

  4. Step 4

Inspect the logo on the side of the glasses. Authentic Dolce & Gabbana glasses will never have any spaces between the words in the logo, and will usually either say, "Dolce&Gabbana" or "D&G." If the frames are metal, they will usually have "Dolce&Gabbana" engraved on the inside of one of the arms.

  5. Step 5

Get a certificate of authenticity. Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses are sold with a certificate that has a serial number and other information about the model and the pair of glasses themselves. They usually also come with accessories, including a case and a cleaning cloth. Absence of these items is an indicator that the glasses may not be real.
