Texas Hold'em is a type of poker card game that has rapidly grown in popularity. This is due largely to the ESPN networks continuous coverage of the World Series of Poker Tournament where the top Texas Hold'em professionals as well as amateurs square off for millions of dollars in prize money. A Texas Hold'em table can cost $1,000 or more. Using generally inexpensive materials, anyone can build their own Texas Hold'em table.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 sheets of 1/4-inch thick plywood
  • Felt or velvet covering
  • Detachable folding legs
  • Skill saw
  • Foam filling
  • Fabric paint (optional)
  1. Step 1

Purchase two sheets of plywood; the size of the table is completely up to you. However, a professional sized table is 90 inches in length. Cut and round the corners off of each sheet of plywood so that they match up perfectly with each other. On one of the sheets of plywood, cut out the middle section, so that you are left with a 6-inch-wide border.

  2. Step 2

Smooth out the felt or velvet covering over the sheet of plywood. Staple or glue the felt to the underside of the table.

  3. Step 3

Take the 6-inch border piece of the plywood and glue the foam filling to the top. Wrap the border piece with either leather, velvet or felt and glue it to the bottom of the 6-inch-wide border.

  4. Step 4

Attach the 6-inch border to the top of the felt-covered piece of plywood. You can either glue it down with an industrial strength adhesive or nail it together, making sure to use nails small enough that they do not go all of the way through the two pieces of plywood. Gluing is a better option, although you will need to wait for it to dry before moving on to the final step. Let the table sit out overnight just to make sure.

  5. Step 5

Attach the folding legs to the center of the bottom of the table. You can choose to leave the legs off and just place the table top you have created so far on top of an existing table each time you want to use it. This option can make it easier to store the Texas Hold'em table. Additionally, you can use fabric paints to personalize your table top with your own designs or logos.
