Instructions

    • 1

Gather your materials. You will need card stock paper, scissors, markers or pens, an edge rounder and a ruler. You can find all of these products at your local craft store.

    • 2

Pick your size. Most playing cards are 2 inches wide by 3 inches high. Cut your stock down into 52 cards and round the edges to prevent paper cuts.

    • 3

Decide on a unifying theme. Is your cousin an aqua-fiend? Why not make a deck of card sharks to keep him informed as well as entertained. Design the deck with the face and number suits on one side; the design on the other side. Follow the basic design schematic of a plain deck of cards.

    • 4

Make sure to create aces, kings, queens, jacks and cards 2-10. There should be one of each of those for each of the four suits: hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs.

    • 5

Use a rubber band or tin to store your new cards.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are a computer whiz, you can use Adobe Photoshop to design your cards, but I'm sure your cousin will just be happy with the cards he is given with your own ingenious idea.
