AAC audio files are the default file type in iTunes. Most songs or playlists from your iTunes music library can be burned to a CD as MP3 files. iTunes will only covert songs in a playlist to an MP3 CD.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • CD/DVD read/write drive
  • Blank CD
  1. Step 1

Select your playlist in the left-hand frame of your iTunes application. Select "Library" under "File" in the top menu bar, and then select "Burn Playlist to Disc" in the drop-down menu.

  2. Step 2

Select the radio button next to "MP3 CD" in the Burn Settings dialog box.

Verify that your CD burner is recognized as the target device under "CD Burner" (the preferred speed will be set according to the device).

    Click the "Burn" button.

  3. Step 3

Insert a blank CD when prompted.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, iTunes will only covert songs in a playlist. To create a playlist, select "New Playlist" under "File" in the top menu bar, name your playlist and drag your song(s) from the Music folder to this playlist. iTunes will convert to MP3 to burn a CD (create an audio CD); it will not convert a file and save it to your desktop. To save the MP3 file to your desktop, copy the file from the MP3 CD created. If the size of your playlist exceeds the CD capacity, you will be prompted to split the playlist among multiple CDs.
  • Songs purchased from the iTunes store may have limitations to the number of times it can be burned (for sharing). Check the usage rules of your audio purchases on the iTunes store if iTunes doesn't export your song. iTunes will prompt you if a song was purchased from the iTunes store but is not authorized to play on your computer.
