How to Find SRT Files

These instructions will help you find not only sort files, but any files on your PC. It is helpful to know how to search, because sometimes the software you're using will put files in temporary locations. Fortunately, searching for files is a simple process.

Instructions

  1. The Start Menu

      At the bottom of your screen you should see a tab that says "Start." Click on it using your mouse.

      A list appears showing you available options. Place your cursor over the word "Search." A second box appears. Place your cursor over "For Files or Folders" and click your mouse.

      A window comes up and in the left pane is a box that says "Search for Files or Folers Named:". In this box type "*.srt."

      In the "Look In" box, choose the drive letter where you think the file is.

      In the right pane, it will say "Searching..." When it is finished searching, it list files for you to choose from. If it doesn't find any, it will say, "Search is complete. There are no files to display."

Tips & Warnings

  • If you think this may turn up a large number of files, go to the Search Options box and check on additional criteria that will limit your search such as "Date," "Type" or "Size."
