Plug the gyro connecting cable into the rudder rotor channel of the radio receiver.
Adjusting the gyroscope on an RC helicopter is crucial for maintaining flight control. The gyro, as its name suggests, is a small electronic gyroscope that senses the yaw movement of the model helicopter. The yaw is a measurement of the amount of left and right sway affecting the helicopter tail. If there's too much yaw to maintain stability of the aircraft, the gyro sends a signal to the server motor in the tail rotor blade, adjusting its speed to correct and compensate the yaw changes.
Plug the rotor server into the gyro.
Adjust the gyro gain setting to 50 percent, or the midway point on the adjustment. The gain setting determines how sensitive the gyro will be in compensating for yaw movement in the helicopter. Setting the gain at the halfway mark allows you to test the sensitivity of the gyro's control over the tail rotor while maintaining control of the helicopter.
Test the helicopter in flight a few feet off the ground to conserve fuel and time. While it's airborne, adjust the rotor toggle control on the receiver to gauge the rotor response on the helicopter. If the aircraft veers or lurches sluggishly, the gyro gain setting may be set too low. If the helicopter tail instantly wags left and right, the gyro gain setting is probably too high.
Adjust the gain setting higher as you become a more experienced pilot and want to fly your helicopter at full throttle, which will require a more sensitive gyro-rotor setting.
