How to Make a Secret Code Online
Codes and cryptography are a fascinating topic. We all remember working to decode the word encryption that used to come in the newspaper. And they are still fun, and at the same time useful. If you want to create a coded message, you can now turn to the internet to help you do it.

1
Create the unencrypted message you wish to send. It's best to keep it simple and to the point, to facilitate decryption by the person receiving it, and to lessen the possibility that some interceptor can break it.
-
2
Go to a site such as Jefferson Wheel Cipher (see Resources below). The Jefferson Wheel, or disk cipher, consists of a series of spinning disks. To decrypt a message, it is generally necessary to know the number and order of disks used (information that only the sender and the intended recipient have).

3
Copy and Paste your key into the box that contains the words "In all this I am merely a cipher. This key is a series of words used by the utility to encrypt the message. The person receiving the message must also possess the key to decrypt the message. This information is best agreed upon well ahead of time, by creating a codebook of keys that are to be used only on certain calendar dates.
-
4
Type your message across the red letters. Now rotate the wheel up or down to select encoded set.
-
5
Click "Email" and send to someone else or yourself the encoded message. To decode the message, you (or the person receiving it) simply put the key back in, paste in the message, and turn the wheel until you see a group of letters that form an intelligible message.
