Instructions

    • 1

Align one leg against the wooden round, and hammer a nail through the wooden round and into the leg until it the nail head sits flat on top of the wooden round. Repeat the previous step with the other three legs, spacing the legs an equal distance from the edge of the round and from each other.

    • 2

Stand the incomplete stool on its four legs. Do not sit on it at this point. Installing the connector rods will make it strong enough to sit on.

    • 3

Measure the distance between each leg. Saw off connector pieces in the measured lengths.

    • 4

Nail connector rods between each leg of the stool, attaching each connector to the stool about halfway down each leg. If the legs of your stool are placed at the outer edges of the wooden round, they will require four connector pieces, each about 9 inches long.

    • 5

Make sure the stool does not wobble, because this may make it unsafe. Attaching the connector rods will provide added stability and support. If the stool is still unsteady and wobbles, you may choose to add one or more felt pads at the bottom of any unstable leg to make up any difference in leg length and make the stool steadier.

Sand your final product down and, if desired, apply a generous, final coat of varnish. When this dries completely, sand again until the entire surface is smooth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to protect your eyes and fingers while working with the nail and hammer.
