The file format ".act" is a compressed audio format that is used in Chinese MP3/MP4 players and voice recording devices. In order to listen to the format one must use Sound Convert 2.0, an application designed for Microsoft Windows. The program does not require an installation and will convert ACT, RCD, and REC files to the WAV format.

Instructions

  1. Downloading

      Open Internet Explorer.

      Direct your browser to http://www.geocities.com/sound_converter/sound-convert-tool-2.0.zip .

      Select Save and save the file to the Desktop.

      Once the download is complete, click Open.

    Installation

      A window will appear with the folder "Sound Convert tool 2.0".

      Drag the folder onto the desktop.

      Open the folder that you moved to the desktop.

    Converting

      Double click on the file "PlaySnd.exe".

      Click Open and select the ACT file you wish to convert.

      Select your output choice, either WAV (lossless) or MP3 (compressed).

      Click Convert.

      The WAV or MP3 file is saved in the same directory as the original file.

      Click the Play button to listen to the converted file.
