Instructions

    • 1

Strike the matches or light the lighter in order to create a flame.

    • 2

Hold the key at its base--the part of the key that does not go inside the lock.

    • 3

Move the part of the key that does go inside the lock near the flame so that it heats up. Don't place the key so close to the flame that it gets charred. Keep the end of the key that goes inside the lock near the flame until you feel the base of the key get very warm.

    • 4

Extinguish the flame from the matches or lighter.

    • 5

Place the key inside the keyhole. The heat from the key will warm up the lock. Given some time for the heat to conduct into the lock, the lock will turn.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the key is not flammable. Do not heat the key so much that it burns your fingers.
