How to Create a Logo in 3D Max

Instructions

1. Choose the initial shape of your logo. Click on the "Create" tab on the menu at the top of the screen and select the "Shapes" tool in the "Create" toolbar. Select the type of shape you desire.

2. Draw the outlining shape of your logo design. Drag your mouse across the grid to create a line. Once you have drawn the first initial line, click on the line and drag it in the direction you desire to create the actual shape of your design. (Repeat this process to create the full outline of your design.)

3. Create the three dimensional layers of the shape. Right click on the actual shape, click on the "Convert To" option and select the "Convert to Editable Patch" option. (This action will create a 3D barrier below the initial line you drew.)

4. Connect the layers of the shape of your logo design to complete the initial outline of the design. Now, click on the the "Modify" tab in the menu at the top of the screen. Click on the "Vertex" option and select"Connect" when the "Modify" toolbar appears.

5. Insert color to the logo design layout. Click on the "Paint" icon, located in the toolbar at the top of the screen. (This icon will display a image of either a paint bucket or brush. The icon's thumbnail image will depend on the version of 3D Studio Max you are using.) Click on the color you wish to use when the HTML color grid appears. Drag your mouse over the region of the design you wish to color.

• If you choose to add text to your logo design, click on the "Insert" tab and select the "Font" option on the top menu of the screen. When the window opens, type the text and select the font style you desire. Click "Insert" and the text will appear on the grid. Click on the text to move it to the area of the grid you desire. For 3D images, it is best to duplicate the outline angle to successfully create the three-dimensional angle of the object. Creating a design is always best if is constructed with underlying shapes. Always draw the initial layout of your logo design by shapes. The "Shape" tool allows you to create accurate shapes that are symmetrical on all sides, which gives your logo a more professional look.

• Follow these instructions closely to ensure the diagram of your design is done correctly. Although the design you desire may vary in physical appearance, the concept of creating the design is always the same. 3D Max requires an adequate hard drive processing speed to run effectively. Be sure your computer meets the initial, functional requirements needed to run the software. Close all nonessential programs that you may be running when you begin using 3D Max to avoid slowing down your computer's hard drive.
