How to Get Free Ad-Aware Updates

Ad-Aware is an application from Lavasoft that removes adware from your computer. Adware can gum up your PC, causing websites to load slowly or not at all. You can obtain a free version or pay for the pro or the plus versions. You should update your free version at least once a week to protect your PC from the newest adware files.

      Open the Lavasoft Ad-Aware application. Click on the "Start Menu" button. Select "Program Files" and scroll to the Lavasoft folder. Double click on the Ad-Aware program.

      Click the "Web Update" button. This will automatically log onto the Lavasoft website and download new definition files. The process will take about five minutes, depending on your last update.

      View the "Status" under "Web Update." There should be an "OK" message if the update was successful.

      Go to the Lavasoft Ad-Aware website (See References). Upgrade your current Ad-Aware application with the "Anniversary Edition." This is available in "Free," "Plus" and "Pro." If you paid for your Lavasoft Ad-Aware "Plus" or "Pro" program, you can upgrade for free.
