Bangle bracelets are a fun and fashionable accessory for any outfit. The hard plastic bangles you often see are actually made from resin. You can cast resin at home to make your own bangle mold jewelry. Resin is a polymer plastic that comes in a two-part liquid form and hardens, or cures, in one to two days. Everything you need is available at larger craft stores or online and is easy for the novice to use. As you gain more experience, you can make more intricate bangle bracelets using the same molds.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two-part epoxy resin
  • Disposable plastic cups
  • Craft sticks
  • Rubber gloves
  • Bangle mold
  • Mold release spray
  • Resin dye
  1. Step 1

Spray the mold with release spray. Set it on a flat surface where it will not be disturbed or on a cookie sheet so you can move it to a safe place once you are finished.

  2. Step 2

Wearing gloves, place 2 inches of resin in the plastic cup, measuring up from the bottom of the cup. Mark a line where it is filled to, then pour the resin into a second cup. Fill the first cup to the line with the hardener and pour it into the resin.

  3. Step 3

Mix for 2 minutes with a craft stick, being sure to scrape the sides and bottom. Pour the mixture into a third cup and mix for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Mix in a resin dye, adding it a small amount at a time until you get the desired color. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes to allow the air pockets to dissipate.

  5. Step 5

Pour the resin into the mold, filling until it is level with the top. Allow it to cure for 2 hours without disturbing. Turn the mold upside down and lightly tap to release the bracelet.

Tips & Warnings
  • Blow gently on the surface of the resin to pop small air bubbles. Place small items such as charms or candy sprinkles into the resin after pouring to decorate your bangle.
  • Do not get resin on your skin. Work in a well-ventilated area.
