How to Convert SHN to WAV
SHN (Shorten) is a lossless audio file format developed by SoftSound that compacts files without losing quality. Converting such files to the WAV format used by most Windows applications is a simple process with the right software, and makes it easier to play those files in a wider variety of programs.

Download the audio-conversion software if it's not already installed on your computer. A number of programs are available; some can be purchased for a fee; others may have no charge. Select the one you want and follow the prompts to download. (See Resources for one example.)

Open the program once the download is complete. It should open to the main conversion window.

Find the SHN files you want to convert by clicking "Add Files" or "Select Files," depending on the program you're using. Locate the folder those files are in and add them. Or simply drag the files from another open window.

Use the "Settings" menu to determine the name and location of the outlet folder you want the converted files to go to. Use "My Music," "My Documents," or create a new file to make them easy to find.

Select WAV in the "Settings" menu or in the main conversion window, depending on the program, as the file type to convert to. Some programs may allow you to change other factors as well, such as the file size and conversion speed.

Click "Convert" or "OK," depending on your software. Upon completion of the process, the files will be converted to WAV and move to the output folder you selected.
