How to Write a Grant Application to Start a Business

In order to receive a grant to start a business you need to have a clear focus of what that business should be. 1. Define what business you plan to start. Using the pie example leads to, "I want to operate my dream business, "Patty's Pies." People always say you should do what you love and I have always loved baking from childhood up to today. With your help I know I can turn my dream into reality."

2. Explain how you think your business will fill a need in the marketplace and postulate how you are certain the public will pay for your product by examining "There isn't a good place in my area for baked goods and I know that I can change that for the better. I am always being asked by friends and family to bake them pies for special occasions or just as an after dinner treat. By expanding my client base and offering a quality product with top-notch service I know I can turn a profit."

3. Submit a financial overview of how you plan to keep the business running over time. Include a cost analysis for materials used on an everyday basis as well as for employee numbers and salaries. Your readership must see a viable business if they are to take part. Include pricing, your distribution model and a list of products you intend to sell. "As you can see from the information I've provided, to start out with I will only need two other employees and I plan to put as much money as I can back into the business after the first year.
