How to Lock a File on a Mac

If more than one person uses your Mac computer, consider locking private files that you do not want other users to access. When another user attempts to open a locked file, the operating system will issue a warning stating that the user does not have sufficient privileges to read the file. In addition, other users will not be able to delete your locked files.
