Adopting a teenage boy is often a faster process than adopting an infant since most prospective adoptive families want a young child. Because it is often difficult to find families for teenagers, many states also offer adoption subsides or special tax breaks for parents who adopt teen boys. Families can find teenage boys up for adoption through state social service agencies, private adoption agencies and in the community at large.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Contact your state's child protection agency. The agency can provide you with a listing of teenage boys available for adoption, guide you thought the process and help you get financial assistance to defray the cost of adoption.

  2. Step 2

Turn to the community. One way to locate teenage boys for adoption is to tell friends, relatives, and co-workers that you are interested in adoption and encourage them to look for teenage boys who are in need of an adoptive family.

  3. Step 3

Look to private adoption agencies. Some have contracts with boys homes that care for teenage boys who have been permanently separated from their parents.

  4. Step 4

Consider international adoption. Some foreign countries allow United States citizens to adopt teenage boys who are orphaned or who have been abandoned by their families.
