A cleansing face mask is a skincare treatment that is used to cleanse impurities, revitalize the face and smooth and soften the skin. Used about once a week, a deep-cleansing face mask can help to improve the overall quality of your facial skin, making it look brighter and feel softer. A cleansing mask also removes dirt, oil, dead skin cells and other buildup that can clog pores and result in acne lesions.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Makeup remover
  • Cleansing mask
  • Washcloth
  1. Step 1

Remove any and all makeup before using a cleansing face mask. Use makeup removing pads to wipe your face clean. Pull hair back with a headband or hair tie to prevent the cleansing face mask from soiling your hair.

  2. Step 2

Using your fingers, massage the cleansing face mask onto your face and neck. Avoid the delicate eye area and your lips.

  3. Step 3

Leave the cleansing face mask on your skin for about 20 to 30 minutes. This allows the active ingredients to absorb deep into your pores, targeting and removing toxins and other impurities.

  4. Step 4

Slightly wet a washcloth. Gently wipe off the dried mask by moving the washcloth in a circular motion against your skin. Splash some lukewarm water over your face and neck to remove any last remnants of the cleansing face mask.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a cleansing face mask for your particular skin type. If you have oily skin, choose a mask that absorbs oil. If you have dry skin, choose a moisturizing mask. If you have acne-prone skin, choose a mask containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to treat your acne.
  • Don't use a cleansing face mask on broken skin. Don't use a cleansing face mask more than once a week as it can lead to redness and irritation.
