How to Weatherproof Mobile Home Windows

  1. Step 1

Measure each window from the outside. Your measurements should include approximately 4 inches around the frame of the window, to ensure that all the drafty areas get covered.

  2. Step 2

Cut clear plastic sheeting to fit the measurements. By purchasing clear you are still allowing light to come in while blocking air.

  3. Step 3

Tape around the entire outer edge of the plastic sheet and apply to each window. Smooth the tape to eliminate any leaks. Luckily weatherproof tape can be purchased in many different colors so it need not stick out against your exterior.

  4. Step 4

Apply weatherstripping to the inside of the window along the edges and sill.

  5. Step 5

Applying plastic sheeting on the inside of the window is not necessary but would provide another layer of protection. Sheeting only the inside allows air to still get in around the window frame from the exterior and work its way through the framing and into the home.
