Creating Hyperlinks in FrontPage

Creating a hyperlink in Microsoft FrontPage is quick and easy because the program does not require any knowledge of HTML codes. If you can copy and paste, you can create a hyperlink. However, if you are familiar with HTML, this program also allows you to add code directly using the HTML Tab.

Instructions

  1. Create Wording For Your Hyperlink

    • 1
      Start with the text

Type the text that will become a link to another web page.

    • 2
      Highlight the text

Highlight the text that will become the clickable link. In this case, we are highlighting "Butterfly Gallery." Highlight the wording by holding down on the left mouse button and dragging the cursor across the text.

    • 3
      Click the hyperlink icon

Go to the toolbar and click on the "hyperlink" icon, which looks like globe with a chain link.

    • 4
Insert the path to the link

Fill in the path where the link is going. It will start with the homepage followed by the name of the page where the link is being directed. An easy shortcut is to open your browser and go to the specific page to where your link will point. Go up to the address bar and copy the http:// address and paste it into the FrontPage field.

    • 5
      Clickable link

Click OK and you will see your text is now blue, which means it has converted to a clickable hyperlink.

    • 6

Click on the preview tab and click on the link you created to test it. If it does not work, make sure the http:// path is correct. Once everything is correct, save and upload the page containing your new link to your server.
