Step 1
Call the golf course you are planning to use and find out its dress code. Dress codes vary from club to club. Most clubs require sleeved shirts and appropriate, polished-looking shorts or pants.
-
Step 2
Check the weather. In hot weather, you will be more comfortable in golf shorts (usually long khaki-colored shorts that are snug at the waist but loose through the leg) and a collared golf shirt made out of a breathable material. On colder days, you might want to wear pants and a long-sleeved pullover shirt.
-
Step 3
Wear a hat or visor to keep the sun out of your eyes as you are playing. Nothing is worse than missing your swing or losing sight of your ball while it's in the air because of sun blindness.
-
Step 4
Consider your footwear. Most beginner to intermediate players are comfortable wearing tennis shows on the golf course, but as you advance in the sport, you might want to invest in a pair of golf shoes. Visit your local sporting goods store to find golf shoes that fit your foot and arch. On some courses, you will walk in excess of four miles for 18 holes, so make sure your shoes are comfortable. Also, consider waterproofing your shoes to prevent wet socks and feet.

Step 5
Don't wear anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, and avoid synthetic fabrics and tight clothes.
