Instructions

  1. How to Start a Teleconference

    • 1

Sign up with a service that will allow you to perform teleconference calls. A few of the online websites that will allow you to set up teleconference calls for free are FreeConference, LiveOffice and Foonz. Some of the free teleconferencing services have a limit on the number of participants who can join the conference calls. If their set limit does not meet your needs, you can opt for a paid teleconferencing service such as AT&T Teleconferencing.

    • 2

Set a date and time for your teleconference call.

    • 3

Send a notification to the individuals you want to participate in the teleconference. In the notification you should provide the telephone number and PIN number that they should dial to access the call. You can obtain the telephone number and PIN from your teleconference service provider. As the leader of the teleconference call, you will also have a separate telephone number and PIN number to dial in order to host your call.

    • 4

Create an agenda for your teleconference call. This will help the teleconference go smoothly. It will help you to ensure that every matter of business is discussed and not forgotten. If you plan to incorporate participant feedback, send the agenda to the participants ahead of time. This will allow them time to think about questions they would like to ask regarding the various topics being discussed.

    • 5

Dial in 5 to 10 minutes before the teleconference is scheduled to begin. As the host of the conference, you don't want to be late. Be sure to call from a location that is quiet. You don't want a lot of background noise during your teleconference, as it can appear unprofessional and affect the success of the meeting.

    • 6

Stick to the agenda that you created for the teleconference. Follow up with the participants by sending a summary of the teleconference meeting highlights. Advise them of the date and time for the next teleconference so they can mark their calendars ahead of time.
