Just as they are on paper, computer animations are a collection of still images that change on timed intervals. The most popular file type for animations is .gifGIF, and there are Web sites and downloadable programs that can be used to create these files. This article will explain how to use them one Web site: MyTheme Animator.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer images you wish to animate, preferably all the same size

    Preparing the Images

  1. Step 1

Navigate in your Web browser to the MyTheme Online Photo Editor, linked below.

  2. Step 2

Locate the text that reads "Click here to add more files for Animations or Collages," near the middle of the page, and click on it.

  3. Step 3

Click the top "Browse" button in the list and choose the first photo in your animation from its location on your computer.

  4. Step 4

Add more frames in the animation by clicking subsequent "Browse" buttons and selecting more images.

  5. Step 5

Click the button that says "Upload Now!" when you are finished selecting animation frames.

  6. Step 6

Be patient while the images load. This can take a few moments depending on the size of the images.

  7. Editing the Animation

  8. Step 1

Move your mouse over the tab that says "Animation" from the menu bar that runs across the screen and click on "Edit Animation Settings."

  9. Step 2

Use the drop-down menu next to the word "Speed" to change the animation speed, and use the menu next to the word "Looping" to determine how many times the animation will repeat.

  10. Step 3

Delete individual frames by clicking the "X" below that frame.

  11. Step 4

Change the sequence of the animation by clicking an individual frame and dragging it to the desired place in the rotation.

  12. Step 5

Add more frames by moving your mouse over the tab that says "Animation" and clicking "Add Animation Frame," then select an image from your computer.

  13. Step 6

Save the finished product by scrolling down toward the bottom of the screen and clicking on the small text that reads "Download and Save." Be sure to give the animation a suitable name when saving.

Tips & Warnings
  • Animations look best when they give the illusion of fluid movement. Try snapping several photos of someone making faces or gestures, then creating an animation from those images.
  • Animations of different shapes and sizes won't look good together. Edit your images beforehand to ensure a consistent finished product.
