Use a Diffuser

Do you struggle with frizzy, curly hair that is unmanageable and requires the use of countless products and tools? If so, consider adding a diffuser to your hair care routine. Using a diffuser can help enhance the appearance of natural curl and create body and volume, while taming frizz. In addition, the heat released by a diffuser is distributed over a larger area, which reduces the hair damage associated with standard blow drying. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash and condition your hair. Wring your hair over the sink to remove excess water.

    • 2

Untangle your hair with a wide toothed comb, starting at the tips and working your way up to the scalp.

    • 3

Use your hands to work mousse or curl enhancing product through your hair.

    • 4

Snap the diffuser attachment onto the nozzle of your blow dryer. Plug in and turn on the blow dryer as you usually would. Select the lowest heat setting.

    • 5

Place a section of hair onto the diffuser bowl, resting the bowl against your scalp. Gently rotate the blow dryer using a circular motion until the section is dry.

    • 6

Use the technique from Step 5 to dry the remaining sections of hair. When drying the hair at the very top of your head or your bangs, flip your hair upside down before scooping with the diffuser bowl.

Tips & Warnings

  • A diffuser can add curl to straight hair through the use of the scrunching technique, which involves crumpling sections of hair with yours hands before treating it with a diffuser.

  • Using a diffuser while your blow dryer is on the high heat setting may cause the diffuser to melt.
