Acquire a bike pedal generator. You can do this by buying one through the links below or building your own.

Place the rear wheel of your bike directly into the bike pedal generator. Be sure that the generator is flat on the ground and can support the weight and motion of the bike without tipping over.

Hook the power pack up to the bike pedal generator to capture the electricity created by your biking. You can hook up a small appliance (or light bulb) to the power pack as well, to immediately use the electricity you produce. Otherwise, the power pack will save the electricity for later.

Begin pedaling. As you continue biking, the rear wheel will turn the generator in the bike pedal stand, and the rotation of the magnets will be converted to electricity. You can then use that electricity however you'd like.

Measure the amount of electricity you create by hooking up a voltmeter to the bike directly, instead of the power pack. A voltmeter will measure the electricity produced.

Be sure to replace the voltmeter with the power pack before biking for any length of time.
Even at high-speed biking for an hour, you will not produce very much power in terms of tangible financial results.
