Chickweed, the small, delicate creeping vine that gardeners go to great lengths to eradicate, is purported to have great value as a diet agent, helping to dissolve fats so that they are then expelled in the urine. While chickweed is widely used by herbalists as a gentle diuretic, there is no scientific proof of its efficacy as a diet agent. Nonetheless, you'll find it quite widely available in pills--which should be taken as indicated on the product label, usually two to three pills or more daily--or more conveniently as tea.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tea diffuser
  • Teapot or mug
  1. Step 1

Scoop 2 to 3 tsp. of dried chickweed into a tea diffuser.

  2. Step 2

Place the tea diffuser in a mug or tea pot, then fill that mug or pot with water just shy of boiling temperature.

  3. Step 3

Let the chickweed herb, inside the diffuser, steep in the hot water for five minutes.

  4. Step 4

Remove the diffuser from the hot water, dump the spent chickweed out and rinse the diffuser clean.

  5. Step 5

Drink the chickweed tea, which should be cooled off to a drinkable temperature by now. Test it carefully on the first few sips to see if it's too hot; if so, let it sit for a few more minutes.

  6. Step 6

Take chickweed tea two or three times daily, or more, to reap its benefits as a supposed diet agent.
