How to Glue Judo Puzzle Mats
Judo puzzle mats are foam floor mats that come in square, interlocking pieces designed to fit together like parts of a jigsaw. Though their design is intended to make them convenient to remove and fold up, you may find that this portability is less important for your purposes and that you'd rather have them securely and permanently attached to one another. Using rubber cement, you can achieve this with sacrificing the flexibility of the mats.

1
Lay out your puzzle mats on your studio floor in the configuration you want to glue them. This will allow to make sure you have the color design and layout you want. If you are working in a tight space, you may wish to fasten the mats together to make sure they don't take up too much space - but you will want the mats unattached when you begin.

2
Begin gluing your mat starting with the corner piece. Coat one edge of the corner mat with rubber cement, making sure to get cement into the inside crevices of the puzzle teeth. Apply generously, but you will not need to apply cement to the mat that you're attaching. Fit the two pieces together

3
Place sheets of newspaper beneath glued pieces while you wait for them to dry. This will keep you from accidentally gluing the mats to the floor (you may end up with small bits of paper glued to the underside, but these won't be seen).

4
Glue your first row of pieces together. Let dry.

5
Attach your second row to the first completed row one square at a time. Do this rather than completing a full second row, since rubber cement can set up quickly and you want to be applying it to small areas at one time.
-
6
Finish gluing the mat by completing and attaching one full row at a time. Let each row dry before beginning on the next. Test for and correct any gaps caused by insufficient cement as you go.
