How to Clean a Bristled Hairbrush
Cleaning a bristled hairbrush is easy and effective. Like any other beauty care tool, bristled hairbrushes need to be cleaned to avoid a buildup of bacteria, dandruff, hair or mold. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Water
- Mild soap or shampoo
- Alcohol
- Old toothbrush or small cleaning brush
- Cotton swabs

Remove all hair and lint from the hairbrush. Try not to leave any hair behind on the bristles.

Fill a clean sink with warm water. Add a mild soap to it and let it dissolve. Place the brush in the soapy water for about a half-hour. If mild soap is unavailable, try shampoo.

Use a toothbrush or small cleaning brush to scrub the crevices between the bristles and the handle of the brush. Apply more mild soap to the cleaning brush.

If grime or mold remains, use alcohol on a cotton swab to further clean the brush.

Place the brush on a clean towel to dry for a few hours before using it again.

Clean your bristled brushes every other week if possible.
Don't use any harsh or abrasive cleaners on your brush.
