Installing a new Hampton Bay ceiling fan is easy with its Quick-Connect Assembly System. Say goodbye to the tedious process of assembling the ceiling fan blades with brackets and screws. On Hampton Bay ceiling fans, the fan blades are easy to assemble; they simply slide and lock into place. The motor housing comes preassembled also. Hampton Bay ceiling fans are sold exclusively by The Home Depot and come in a large array of styles and sizes. Be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions thoroughly.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Circuit tester (multimeter or a non-contact AC voltage detector)
  • Stepladder
  • Wire-cutting pliers or wire strippers
  • Screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Remove your Hampton Bay ceiling fan and all its parts from the box and locate the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Step 2

Turn off the power to the room where the new ceiling fan is to be installed.

  3. Step 3

Remove the existing light fixture or ceiling fan. Before handling any wires, make sure you use your electrical circuit tester to test them to ensure that no electrical current is present.

  4. Step 4

If you don't have a tool pouch, put the tools you need in your pockets for easy access while working on the ladder.

  5. Step 5

Install the Quick-Connect mounting bracket in the electrical box in your ceiling. It will snap in place, letting you know that it's mounted correctly.

  6. Step 6

Hang your ceiling fan on the Quick Connect fan bracket and wire the ceiling fan according to the manufacturer's instructions. The three wires coming from your ceiling should match the three wires coming from your ceiling fan: black (positive or hot), white (neutral or negative) and green (ground wire).

  7. Step 7

Mount the ceiling fan according to the manufacturer's instructions and install the decorative base of the fan, which covers the wiring and the electrical box in your ceiling.

  8. Step 8

Attach the fan blades using the Quick-Connect system. The blades will simply slide into the fan-blade bracket and lock into place.

  9. Step 9

Install the light kit on your ceiling fan (if applicable) according to the manufacturer's specifications.

  10. Step 10

Turn on the electricity and test your ceiling fan.
