How to Turn on Help and Support in Windows XP

Help and Support allows you to find answers to issues that you are having in Windows XP by pressing F1, and it also allows trusted individuals to provide assistance from a remote location. Follow these steps to enable these important functions.

Instructions

1. 

   Make sure that the "Help and Support" service is enabled. Press "Start" and choose "Run."

2. 

   Once the "Run" dialog appears type "services.msc" in the "Open: box" and press "OK."

3. 

   In the "Services" window scroll down to "Help and Support" service. Right-click and choose "Properties."

4. 

   Once in the "Properties" section make sure that "Start up Type" is set to "Automatic" or "Manual." Also check to make sure that "Service Status" says "Started." If not, click the "Start" button. Press "OK."

5. 

   Access "Help and Support" by clicking the "Start" button and choosing "Help and Support" from the "Start" menu.

• Use the "Help and Support" whenever you need to check for Windows updates or need to resolve an issue that you are having with Windows XP.
