Removing a door panel is a job that's well within the skill set of the average do-it-yourselfer. By removing the door panel yourself, you may be able to save some expensive service bills when you want to do such jobs as replacing speakers, fixing an untracked window or replacing an electric window motor.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Panel tool
  1. Step 1

Pry up the plastic screw cover in the door pull trim. This is a small plastic tab in the middle of the door pull, behind the handle. Behind the screw cover is a Phillips screw. Undo and remove the screw.

  2. Step 2

Take the Phillips screw out of the door pull cup in the handle on the inside of the door. When the screw is out, pry the cup out of the door handle.

  3. Step 3

Pry up and pull out the switch panel for the power windows and door locks. Disconnect the wiring plugs on the back and remove it from the door panel.

  4. Step 4

Pry off the sail panel, which is the triangular plastic piece at the leading edge of the window and door.

  5. Step 5

Pry around the edges of the door with your panel tool to release all of the retaining clips. Lift up and out to remove the panel from the door proper.
