How to make a delicious "Coffee Frappe" this summer

An authentic Coffee Frappe - Greek Style
An authentic Coffee Frappe - Greek Style

Authentic Coffee Frappes are really simple to make, delicious, and cost a few cents to make....time to impress your friends!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • coffee granules (eg Nescafe)
  • sugar (optional)
  • cold milk or chilled water
  • small hand blender
  1. Step 1

Take a tall straight glass, and put in a spoonful of coffee granules (about the same amount you would use in a cup of hot coffee).

  2. Step 2

Add sugar as desired (I prefer to add sugar, as it not only tastes better, but helps to make the Frappe really creamy!)

  3. Step 3

Put in a small amount of cold water (enough to just cover the coffee and sugar in the glass)

  4. Step 4

Take your hand whisk, and blend the contents of the glass until it gets thick and creamy

  5. Step 5

Now you can choose whether you want a milky Frappe (pour cold milk slowly into the glass until nearly full) or a water based Frappe (slowly pour in chilled water until nearly full)

  6. Step 6

Give a little stir to the contents of the glass, pup in a drinking straw (optional) and hey presto - a perfect, cafe style Frappe for a few cents.

Tips & Warnings
  • I find that using a hand whisk with the small 'wand' attachment is the best for blending the water + coffee + sugar
