The Secret is a great film that can help you change your life for the better. This article will help you on your way to making it work for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Watch The Secret. You may have to watch it more than once to get the full message. It’s not uncommon for people to pick up something new every time they watch it.

  2. Step 2

Don’t let it get too overwhelming. Changing the way you think can seem like a daunting task, but it can actually be rather enjoyable if you allow it to be. Relax, and work the lessons into your life a little at a time.

  3. Step 3

When you catch yourself thinking something negative, take a moment, stop, and think in a different way. Try to think of what you would prefer, as opposed to what is. For example, if someone is annoying you, instead of thinking about how annoying they are and how much you hate being annoyed, try to think of it a different way. Think: “I like it when annoying people do not come around me.” Or “I like it when people are pleasant around me.” It can be a good start to changing what happens around you.

  4. Step 4

Listen to your “emotional compass.” If you’re doing something, and it’s making you angry or unhappy, it might not be the right thing for you to be doing, at least not right now. I’m not saying you should never do things you don’t like, but try to do things you like, or find a way to make typically unpleasant tasks more enjoyable.

  5. Step 5

Find ways to make things fun. If you hate housekeeping, try getting everyone out of the house, putting on some music, and singing or dancing while you clean. If you hate exercising, see if there is a game or sport you can take up to get you in shape. If there are things that need to be done, try to make them enjoyable, so you’re always feeling good about what you’re doing.

  6. Step 6

Try to think of something you’re grateful for at least once a day. Don’t make a chore out of it, but try to think about what you already have. If you take what you have for granted, you’re not likely to get more.

  7. Step 7

Don’t think about what you lack, think about what you want. Don’t focus on the bills and the lack of money, think about how good it is when you have enough money. Don’t think about being lonely, think about how good it is to be with people who care about you. If you think about things that make you happy, you’re more likely to attract them. If you think about the bad things, that’s what you attract instead.

  8. Step 8

Share your joy with others. Yes, you need a shoulder to cry on when things are bad, but be sure you share good things whenever you can. As you feel happier, so do those around you. As they feel happier, so do you. It’s a loop that can make your life much better, or much worse if you use it the wrong way.

  9. Step 9

Keep a journal to track your progress. Sometimes you may think The Secret isn’t working, when it really is. If you keep a journal and make note of the good things that happen, it can help you to see when you’ve gotten the things you were asking for, and when you achieved goals you set for yourself.

  10. Step 10

Take it easy and enjoy the process. Focus on the good, and have fun in your life whenever you can.
