We all look for interesting and unusual summer party themes. Turn a casual outdoor party into a chic affair by having a wine party!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Keep it simple but elegant
Your décor is important, since it will set the mood. It should be festive, yet natural and simple. Pick colors based on the outdoors, greens and earthy colors are always a nice combination. Add a splash of color by using flowers and plants from the garden.
Hanging lanterns are a wonderful way to provide soft light. Huge umbrellas are a must to set a cozy mood. And don’t forget the music for a friendly ambiance.

  2. Step 2

    Plates, bowls and eating utensils
Choose a natural bamboo dinnerware which is a perfect way to make your party eco-friendly. Made out of pressed bamboo it is biodegradable.

    Glasses and coolers
You can purchase clear acrylic wine glasses which actually look elegant. We’ve even seen some Baccarat look alikes.
You will need a few coolers. If you really want to go all the way for your wine theme party, check out the Giant Wine Cooler from wine enthousiast.com

    Food for the grill
Make it easy on yourself! Ask for help at the grill (or hire help). Supply everything that goes on the grill, plus buns, sauces, condiments etc…Then, if your guests want to contribute dips, side dishes or desserts, let them!

  4. Step 4

    Pairing wine and food
Everyone has different preferences, but as a rule of thumb, dark, rich wines (Red Bordeaux, Red Burgundy) go well with heavier foods such as beef, pasta, game, lamb and strong cheese.
Pinot Grigio complements light fish, seafood, poultry and vegetables well.
Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc go well with seafood, fish and white meat.

Serving summer wine cocktails, rosé wines would also be a refreshing way to keep your guests cool on a hot summer day.

  5. Step 5

    Hostess gifts
Well, it is a wine party, so wine accessories will be a wonderful idea.
A serving tray made from a reclaimed wine crate would be a unique gift for any wine lover. Those found at Whiner and Diner are just exquisite. They are hand-crafted out of beautiful wooden wine boxes and can be personalized with a monogram.
They make a beautiful food tray or wine tray… Your hostess could even use it right away at her wine party for displaying wine and wonderful food!

  6. Step 6

    Tasting wine
    Rule number one: Enjoy it!
Should you sniff the cork? No. Should you swirl the glass? Yes.
And of course, always have a few designated drivers just in case.

Most important thing: Enjoy your party and your guests!
