How to Snack the Smart Way For Better Weight Loss

When we think about snacks the majority of us automatically think of low fat choices like 98% fat-free popcorn, pretzels or those 100 cal packages that are so popular these days. But snacks high in carbohydrates can sabotage weight loss and hinder you from losing those unwanted pounds.

Eating snacks that are high in protein will pack a powerful punch and keep you feeling fuller longer and in turn you won't be piling so much food on your plate when it comes to meal time.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pre-cooked chicken in 2oz portion sizes
  • 3oz cans of white meat chicken
  • low fat cottage cheese
  • string cheese
  • peanut butter and apples
  1. Step 1

    Try chicken as a snack. Normally most of us wouldn't think of chicken as a snack choice but a mere 2 ounces will offer about 38 grams of protein and only 80 calories. Try those pre-baked chicken strips (such as Perdue) which are ready to eat and leaves it easy to grab without having the mess or the cooking. Another chicken option could be a 3 oz can of white meat chicken which is about 14 grams of protein but only 70 calories.

  2. Step 2

    Another smart snack for better weight loss would be choosing a low fat cottage cheese. For a quick snack you can buy cottage cheese in a 4 pack in most supermarkets which makes it easy to throw in your bag for an on-the-go choice. Another good choice is 2 string cheese sticks.

  3. Step 3

    Smearing one tablespoon of peanut butter on a half of an apple will give you a sweet snack but the peanut butter has enough protein to keep you feeling satisfied.
