Step 1
Make sure the unit is unplugged. First, remove the front panel of the air conditioner by removing any screws and pulling the panel off.
-
Step 2
Then remove the air filter- by removing the clips which is holding the filter in place. Depending on the model of ac unit you have, the filter is either located in the front of the evaporator coils or on the back of the front panel. On other models, the filter is in front of the blower and below the evaporator coils; unfasten the filter from its clips and pull it out.
-
Step 3
Vacuum any dust or dirt from filter, then wash the filter in detergent and water solution, or (hose it down) then rinse with fresh water and let it dry.
-
Step 4
Now clean the front panel with a moist cloth or brush it off to get rid of any accumulated dust. Wash the panel and to remove any dirt and rinse with clear water. Reinstall the panel and plug in the air conditioner.
