Create An All Natural, Non-Stick Surface On Your BBQ Grill

Summer is here! It's time to fire up those grills and invite your family and friends over for a BBQ!

How is the surface of your barbecue grill looking? Before you throw your hotdogs and hamburgers on, get your outdoor bbq grill in tip top shape for cooking!

Whether your grilling with a gas bbq or a charcoal grill ... Create an all natural, non-stick surface on your grill, with products you already have in the kitchen. It will keep your food from sticking and will make cleaning your grill so much easier!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Potato
  • Olive Oil or Cooking Oil
  1. Step 1

    *Clean The Grill Surface*

First things first ... make sure the surface of your grill is clean before you begin this process. Any charred food particles left on your grill will affect the effectiveness of these all natural, non-stick coatings. So get out your grill brushes and get to scrubbing!

  2. Step 2

*Get Out The Potato or Oil*

You can take your pick between these two solutions ... I suppose you could use both though I've never tried.

If you decide to use the potato: simply take a whole potato and cut off one end or cut it in half.

If you decide to use olive oil or cooking oil: pour some oil in a small dish and soak a clean kitchen rag in it.

  3. Step 3

    *Coat The Grill*

THE POTATO METHOD: Take your potato halves out to the grill and run the cut side of the potato up and down the grilling surface of your BBQ; using enough pressure to coat the grates without breaking the potato ... or your barbecue. This should be done while the barbecue surface is cool otherwise it will sear the surface of the potato and what you really need to create the non-stick coating is the wet surface of the potato.

THE OILY RAG METHOD: This can be done while the grill is hot or cold and should be done before and during cooking for maximum, non-stick effectiveness. Simply wash down your grilling surface with a generous, but not soaking, coat of oil with your pre-soaked rag.

  4. Step 4

    *Repeat*

Repeat this process of cleaning and coating your grill before and after each use; it will keep your outdoor grill in tip top shape and will make cleaning up your grilling surface a breeze!
