The iPhone is an amazing device that can do almost anything you need. However, there is a cost with its capability in that the battery drains very quickly. Take some steps to help prolong your iPhone's battery life.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off WiFi. If you are not using the WiFi capability, or are not within range of a WiFi hotspot, leaving it on drains your iPhone's battery. Click on the "Settings" icon, then the "WiFi" option. Click on the "On/Off" button next to WiFi to turn it off.

    • 2

Turn off 3G when you are not in a 3G area or actively using the Web browser or app store. Go to "Settings" and click on "General." Click on "Network," and then touch the "On/Off" button next to Enable 3G.

    • 3

Bluetooth also drains the iPhone's battery, so turn it off if you are not using a bluetooth headset or transferring files. In the Settings menu click on "Bluetooth," and then touch the "On/Off" switch to turn it off.

    • 4

Reduce the brightness level of the screen to save battery life. Touch the "Settings" icon and the "Brightness" option. Lower how bright your iPhone's screen shines -- the lower the better.

    • 5

Change the frequency in which iPhone checks for email. Touch the "Settings" icon and "Fetch New Data." Turn the "Push" option off. Under the "Fetch" option, touch "Manually" to choose. This allows you to manually check your email and save your battery life.

    • 6

Put the iPhone in Airplane Mode to turn off all network capabilities of the phone. This is a good option at night if you do not have the iPhone plugged in, or if your battery is getting very low and you aren't near your charger. Touch the "Settings" icon and turn on the "Airplane Mode" option.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always keep a car charger handy as well.

  • Remember, the more you do on the iPhone the faster the battery drains. This includes playing music, watching movies, playing games and using the app store.
