  • Mustard
  • Sugar
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Vinegar
  • Butter
  • Green pepper
  • Onion
  • Sweet pickles
  • Lemon juice

      Mix ¾ cup of catsup, 2½ tsp of regular mustard, 2 tbsp of sugar, a couple squirts of Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and ½ cup of cider vinegar together in a small saucepan. Let it simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Do not let it boil.

      Chop a green pepper into fine bits, dice a large onion and chop sweet pickles. Melt the butter in the skillet over medium heat. Add the green pepper, onion and sweet pickles to the skillet, and saute until the vegetables turn a light brown.

      Add the contents of the saucepan into the skillet and allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes. Let it cool. Use the barbecue sauce as a sauce for baking spare ribs or as a sauce for making pulled barbecue sandwiches.

Tips & Warnings

  • The sauce can be used as a meat marinade before throwing your pork on the grill; put the sauce in a large freezer bag, place the pork in the bag and let it marinade in the sauce for about 2 hours prior to grilling. It's delicious!
