Overall, Walmart's prices are lower than most other grocery and drug stores. But, Walmart is a different kind of retailer because they do not offer weekly sales like other stores. Walmart is famous for the rollback and their everyday low prices. Learn how to get all of your groceries and non-food items at Walmart by taking advantage of their price matching policy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Walmart will match the price of an item shown in a competitor's ad. For example, if you see a Crest teeth whitening kit in the Target ad for a certain price, just bring the ad to Walmart and you can purchase it for the same price shown in the Target ad. The item has to be the same brand. Unfortunately, Walmart does not price match buy one get one free sales.

  2. Step 2

Walmart will match competitor's prices for store loyalty programs. For example, Kroger, Ingles, and CVS all have a shopper's card where you can get special sale prices, earn points for free items, or get special perks when using the loyalty card over a period of time. So check those sale flyers and compare the competitor's sale prices to the Walmart ever day price. You will find some bargains. You must bring the sale flyer with you to show the competitor's price.

  3. Step 3

Walmart allows customers to use coupons in addition to the price matching. Let's say that you bring in the Kroger ad for Coca-Cola products on sale. Walmart will meet the competitor's price, and honor any manufacturer's grocery coupons you have for the item. Walmart does not honor the competitor's store coupons - such as the Walgreens or Target coupons found in those store's ads.

  4. Step 4

Check to see if your store offers Walmart's Sale Promise. There is a sign behind the Customer Service desk in some stores that explains how if a sale item is out of stock, customers may purchase a similar item for the same price. This sounds similar to Target's substitute item policy, but the Walmart sale promise isn't posted in every store. Check your store for details.

  5. Step 5

The key to getting Walmart to price match competitor's prices is to be proactive and stay informed. See the resources section below for the Walmart Price Match policy and print it out and keep it with you. There may be an occasion where you need to refer to the policy to force Walmart to comply and give you the lower price.
