Build a DVD Duplicator Tower

A DVD duplicator tower can be a very practical thing to have. Designed to make multiple copies of the same DVD simultaneously, it can save a lot of time and energy for people who need to accomplish such a task. Generally, a tower bought in a store is a device that plugs directly into a pre-existing computer, but by spending a little money, you can convert an old computer you have lying around into your very own DVD duplicator tower.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a cheap computer. It can be one you buy used or one you've had lying around for years. The only prerequisites it needs to have are a hard drive and expansion ports on the front of the case for adding disc drives to.

    • 2

Buy a DVD drive. Open up the computer's case and slide it into the first expansion port. Connect it to your motherboard by taking an unused ribbon cable and plugging the little plastic end that isn't attached to the motherboard into the back of the drive. Next, buy as many DVD-RW drives as you have open expansion ports left. Connect them to your computer the same way you connected the DVD drive.

    • 3

Purchase and install Nero Burning ROM. Nero is a CD/DVD writer utility that specializes in burning to multiple drives simultaneously.

    • 4

Place the DVD you want to copy in the DVD drive. Place blank, writable DVDs in the rest of the drives.

    • 5

Open up Nero. During installation, a "Nero" icon was placed on your desktop. Double-click it, and from the screen that pops up, select the option for a "Disc Copy." The program will automatically recognize that the disc you want to copy is the one in the DVD drive with the data on it. It will also simultaneously recognize the blank media in the rest of the attached drives. Simply click the "Write" button on the bottom of the window screen, and it will make multiple copies of your disc at the same time.
