Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Start-up capital
  • Business proposal
  1. Step 1

The first step in the process to becoming a Subway franchise owner is to research all aspects of the Subway franchise.

  2. Step 2

Fill out the application. It gives Subway's corporate headquarters some information about you and your intent of buying and owning a franchise store. The application is detailed. It asks everything-from being convicted of a felony to your educational background. You may want to ensure that you have all your information together prior to filling out the application.

  3. Step 3

If you've already completed the research on the franchise and have already submitted the application for additional information, continue to explore other elements about the restaurant. The more you know, the better you'll be as a Subway franchise owner.

  4. Step 4

Look on the Subway website at the restaurant map to see areas that are open for development to determine the best place to secure a location for your restaurant. This is important because the amount of traffic determines the restaurant's survival, so select an area that is guaranteed to bring in significant amounts of traffic.

  5. Step 5

Contact the regional sales manager in your area with questions pertaining to ownership and what you need to know in terms of resources to help your franchise be successful. This is necessary if you need more information or have any additional questions you wish to ask before you move into the next phase of becoming a franchise owner.

  6. Step 6

Apply for business loans and grants. They must fall under the requirements for Subway's capital requirements. It's important to have moderate to excellent credit in order to secure a reasonable business loan to open a Subway restaurant.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put a restaurant in an area that is high in traffic
  • Owning a SUBWAY franchise requires a strong background in retail business. You have to raise a lot of money, possibly more than $200,000. You also have to have the motivation to own a franchise. You also have to answer the questions on the application truthfully.
