How to Clean Lined Drapery
Window treatments collect all sorts of dust and dirt, especially when the windows they cover or decorate are left open. Dirt also accumulates when the curtains hang in a home where candles or incense are burned or cigarettes are smoked. Regular vacuuming is key. However, even then a more thorough cleaning job is needed. Some drapes can be hand-washed or even run through the gentle cycle of a washing machine. Check the label to make sure this is possible. Most lined drapes cannot be washed this way and must be dry cleaned instead. Does this Spark an idea?

3
Use a mild laundry detergent and either wash them by hand in a large laundry tub or use your washing machine's gentle cycle. Use the larger-sized machines at a laundry facility if yours is too small.
-
4
Hang your drapes to dry on a line in the shade. Or, if possible, tumble-dry. Set the dryer to its delicate setting or use the "air dry" option.
-
5
Remove the drapes from the line or dryer immediately when dry.
-
6
Remove wrinkles by ironing your drapes. Again, make sure both the drapery fabric and the lining fabric can be ironed.
