How to Knit a Mario Hat
There are many Mario fans out there for whom a fun project would be to knit a Mario hat. You could choose Mario himself, or one of the other Mario characters. There are many charts available out there, for free or for purchase. Ravelry is a wonderful source for needlepoint fans to come together and share or sell patterns and projects. Chances are you are going to need to make a hat and incorporate a chart into it, unless you are lucky enough to find an actual Mario hat pattern.
Things You'll Need

1
Find a hat pattern that you like. There are many free ones available online. You might also choose to purchase one online or browse local stores.
-
2
Acquire the materials needed according to the pattern's instructions, which usually will include needle sizes, yarn colors and types, and possibly any embellishments to go along with it.

3
Acquire a Mario chart to use along with it. It will need to be in proportion to the size of the hat. For example, you can't incorporate a chart that is 100 x 100 stitches if the hat isn't that big.

You have three options next. You can figure out where the pattern will start and follow the chart while you are knitting (which will require a lot of planning and math), you can finish the hat pattern then go back over top of it with a duplicate stitch or you can cross stitch the pattern onto the finished hat.
