Things You'll Need:
- Adobe Photoshop 5.0 ~ CS3
- PC Windows XP or Vista operating system
- Mouse
- Keyboard
-
Step 1
Start with a new (w)1200 x (h)900 pixels file. Make the foreground color "white" and the background "black" in color. Select "Background Color" in the Contents section, and use 200dpi resolution.
-
Step 2
Marble texture templateFilter > Render > Different Clouds. Repeat as many times as you want until you get one pattern that you like. The patterns are auto-generated by Photoshop so we have no control over the process. Your template for marble texture will look very different than this, as it is random created.
-
Step 3
Equalize the outlineImage > Adjustments > Equalize after you get the marble outline you like.
-
Step 4
Brightness and contrastFor CS versions: Image > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlight, use these values, Shadows: 100%, Highlights: 0%
For 5.0 to 7.0 versions: Image > Adjust > Brightness/Contrast, use these values, Brightness: 74%, Contrast: -62% -
Step 5
Apply colorNow the fun part -- we will add color to the marble pattern. Image > Adjust > Color Balance. Use these values by adjusting the sliders on the scales in the Color Balance window:
Midtones: Cyan (-20), Green (+100), Yellow (-20)
Highlights: Red (+2), Green (+18), Yellow/Green (0)
Shadows: Red (+92), Magenta (-41), Yellow (-28)
Put a check mark in the "Preserve Luminosity" box. Click OK. -
Step 6
Finished marble textureFilter > Sharpen > Sharpen More, then Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen Edges. We have a piece of simulated marble created in Photoshop.
