Broccoli cheese sauce has long been a favorite to have with pasta. This recipe gives it a little extra kick. It can also be good on meat, vegetarian meat substitutes or potatoes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • medium-sized sauce pan
  • sharp cheddar cheese
  • grated parmesan cheese
  • garlic salt
  • ground cayenne pepper
  • ground oregano
  • medium or spicy green chili sauce
  • milk
  • water
  • butter or margarine
  • all-purpose flour
  • broccoli
  • measuring cup
  • cheese grater
  • tablespoon
  • sharp cutting knife
  • cutting board
  • wooden stirring spoon
  1. Step 1

Pour 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 of a stick of butter or margarine and 1 cup of water into the sauce pan. Turn on medium heat.

  2. Step 2

Grate 1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese. Stir this in with 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese.

  3. Step 3

Add 2 dashes of garlic salt, 2 dashes of oregano and 3 dashes of cayenne. Add one tablespoon of green chili sauce. Stir all of this in.

  4. Step 4

Add 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour to thicken. Add less or more depending on your preferred consistency. Stir this in.

  5. Step 5

Cut 2 or 3 large heads off the broccoli stems. You can add stems if you desire. Chop the broccoli heads into smaller pieces and stir into the sauce.

  6. Step 6

Stir the sauce until you reach your desired consistency, adding more cheese, spices or flour if you wish.

  7. Step 7

Take the sauce off the heat and spoon onto your favorite entree.
